I was born and raised in southeastern Massachusetts, most of that a mile from the seashore.
I attended a small liberal arts college in Massachusetts as a physics major, and began a 30-year career as a computer programmer.
In the early 1980's, a magazine article rekindled an earlier interest in railroads, and over time I began using my camera simply as a means of taking notes of passing locomotives and railroad cars.
It was a slippery slope. From there, I began taking photos of the related structures (towers, trackside signals, etc) and nearby scenery, as well as quaint old buildings.
I found that while I continued to be interested in photographing trains, I became more and more interested in photographing water in all the forms that New England has to offer. Over time, I came to realize that I was also engaging in what I have come to describe as "photo-preservation" -- preserving in photographs those buildings and other landmarks that are disappearing.
I hope you enjoy my oft-times peculiar, sometimes downright quirky vision of the beauty around me.
